Hey there, beautiful ladies. Welcome back. Back to another five to thrive. Tuesday. As always, we're here to help women over 50 embrace every moment of our lives with grace, style, and a touch of sass. Each week, we dive into five practical, fun, and impactful tips on a specific theme. So far, we've covered staying active and healthy eating. I hope you've been finding these tips helpful and have started incorporating braiding some of them into your daily routines.

Today, we're shifting gears a bit to focus on skincare and beauty. So let's go. Our first tip is the golden rule of skincare always use sun protection. Harmful UV rays can damage our skin, leading to premature aging and increasing the risk of skin cancer. There has been a myth that people of color don't need to use skincare or protection from the sun. Well, that's indeed a myth. No matter the color or pigment, skin is skin and needs to be protected. And this includes your face.

A sunscreen with at least SPF 30 should be part of your daily routine. The next we have is moisturizing. Now, last week we talked about hydrating our body. So this week, tip number two is all about hydration. But for our skin. As we age, our skin can become drier, leading to fine lines and discomfort. Probably over the last year, I started to notice that my skin was much drier than it used to be. So I started my search to find a good moisturizer that was designed for mature skin and would help keep my skin soft and radiant.

Remember, it's not just your face that needs attention. Trust me, my dry feet have definitely been reminding me of that. But don't forget about your neck, your hands, and the rest of your body, too. I'm going to link my favorite moisturizers in the show notes, along with this body cream I recently started using from Buff City Soap. It's great. Our third tip is about makeup. Now, our goal with makeup should be to enhance our natural beauty, not to cover it up. As we age, less is often more.

During the week, my makeup routine is really simple. I focus on a good base or foundation to even out my skin tone, a blush to add some healthy color. And I'm really into cream blushes these days. I swipe on some mascara to kind of open up my eyes, and then a lip color that makes me feel pretty for the day on weekends, or, say, if I'm going to the office. Then I may add a few more steps with concealer or contouring or bronzing, but it's really not too heavy. And of course, always remember to remove your makeup before bed to keep your skin healthy. Next, let's talk about hair care. So as we age, our hair can change in texture and in color.

Embrace these changes. There are fantastic products out there designed specifically for the needs of mature hair. And if you're going, gray girl? Rocket I have a friend who is so ready to have a head full of gray hair, and I know it's going to look great on her. Me, on the other hand, I actually tend to gray around the edges. And when I do, I always have my hairstylist colored. And that's not because I'm denying my age. I'm proud to be 60, but it's because I'd like my hair to have some color. But regardless of your preference, there's nothing more stylish than a woman confident in her beauty.

Now, speaking of hair, one day I'm going to do a show about alopecia and share my journey with it. Our last tip is about self-care rituals. Beauty isn't just about how we look, it's also about how we feel. So take time each day for activities that relax and rejuvenate you. I admit I am probably the worst at this. I have good intentions, but the day starts out fast and furious and then it gets away from me. But let's agree that we will do something for ourselves. If not every day, at least every week.

This could be a long bath, a facial, masks, meditation, or even simply reading a book with a good cup of tea or coffee, but prioritize yourself and your well-being. And there we have it. Five more tips to help you thrive. I can't wait to hear how you're implementing these tips into your beauty routine.
